A 59-year-old man lured a 13-year-old girl to his Brooklyn home where he exposed himself to her and rubbed her breast, the Brooklyn District Attorney's office said.

Arye Ickovits, a Hasidic Jew, of Boro Park, told the girl on Nov. 24 he needed help, a spokesman said. Ickovits uses a walker.

The girl told her mother about her ordeal. But relatives waited four days before reporting the attack to cops, seeking rabbinical approval from neighborhood religious leaders about speaking to investigators, the spokesman said.

Members of the NYPD Brooklyn Child Abuse Squad were then shown a picture of Ickovits snapped by the girl's mother on a cell phone.

Ickovits was arrested on Dec. 3 and later released on $5,000 bail.

Hi all,

If that's the case then the people at VosIzNeias need to make a correction because the article I read on their site is what gave me (and others I presume) that impression.

However, I find it odd that-that was not expressed in the article. If I was in Mr. Hikind's position that would be the first thing I would say to a reporter being that he's already in the predicament that he's in-in terms of his plan to rid of this problem-which is to go to the Rabbis-and concealing the names of perpetrators and victims etc. I want hear Mr. Hikind make that correction and clear it up-not here-say-with all due respect to you Asher.

And, even if it is the case that it was the families decision and not Mr. Hikind's-it still does not support his way of execution because this proves the fundamental flaws in the system that exists and will continue-that a family would go ask a rabbi first before going to the police-and by Mr. Hikind continuing his crusade in the way he is-I believe encourages more similar actions because HE'S GOING TO THE RABBIS BEFORE THE POLICE-I SEE A CONTINUING PATTERN HERE. IF HE'S OUR EXAMPLE FOR THE COMMUNITY ON HOW TO HANDLE THIS ISSUE-IT IS NOT A VERY GOOD ONE!!! (I understand that he's give over some names-but it's not good enough!)
